John Kennedy of Dingwall

Sermon Notes of Dr. John Kennedy, 1866-1874 (Vol. 2)

$21.70

Dr. John Kennedy was one of the foremost ministers and preachers in Scotland during the nineteenth century. Known as “The Spurgeon of the North,” he spent most of his adult life in what was his only pastorate in the Highland town of Dingwall, where he was the Free Church minister from 1844 until his death in 1884.

The material in these volumes has been transcribed from two documents of Dr. Kennedy containing handwritten sermon notes covering the period from 1859 to 1874. This material has never been published previously and it provides a fascinating insight into the mind of this renowned minister of the gospel.

While some of the notes are brief outlines others are more or less complete sermons. Kennedy’s preaching was doctrinal and yet experimental and practical in a way that seems to have all but disappeared in the modern church.

Here is real and solid fare for the hungry soul.
